The Narrative structure of this short film is Linear showing a snapshot of the day in real time and is restricted giving the audience an element of surprise when they watch the short film. It is also a subjective narrative and is circular as the criminal becomes the victim which is the big twist of the short film. The idea that it starts with crime and ends with a crime also shows that the short film is a circular narrative linking the beginning of the film to the end. The camera work used in the short film is kinetic and is very gritty, grainy showing real life through a lens. There are several quick cuts making the short film seem much longer making the audience want to continue watching. There is no dialogue which also adds to the mysterius effect of the film creating enigmas for the audience on who the characters are and how they know each-other. The titles of the short film start very abruptly and has a very brief opening title telling the audience what the film is called. The end credits are overlaid and has a diegetic sound of a bag being zipped up and the man moving around. The main themes of this short film is violence, theft and street crime making it a controversial and different type of film compared to a full length feature film. The purpose of this short film is sending a message to the audience that 'what goes around comes around'.

This is a linear narrative showing a real time snapshot of someone's day. Its also a circular narrative as the ladel is mentioned at the beginning of the short film and then comes up again at the end in this very simple plot. Its a subjective narrative of John Smith as he's the only character the audience can see the perspective of. Its also a restricted narrative with an element of surprise for the audience. It is very gritty, real life filmed in his flat whereas the TV studio is very glossy, bright and unreal to compare the different lifestyles. There is continuity editing used in the film with very limited dialogue recorded on set. There is a score over the titles at the end and the lyrics suited the story of John Smith. There is limited pre opening titles due to the time constraints of the short film. The themes in this short film is unemployment of young people, lazyness, recluse, lack of community and the commercial element of society that the belief you could buy happiness. The purpose of this short film is that the director is a film student and she's made this film for self promotion and its a competition entry.
